The first Polish sailing and business club, the Sailing Poland Yacht Club, founded, among others, on the initiative of ASM Group is blooming and continues on the track of success. Recently it has taken the 3rd place in Ocean Racing 1 competitive class during the 39th St. Maarten Heineken Regatta – the oldest event on the Caribbean race schedule. These legendary coastal regatta consist of 4 racing days in a varied formula around the islands of St. Maarten and Anguilla. As the organisers themselves describe the event, it is about “serious sailing” and “serious fun”. This year, 120 crews from 22 countries registered, and Poland was represented by as many as 6 crews in different categories.

However, life on the water is only part of the Sailing Poland Yacht Club’s activity. In Warsaw, they regularly organise small-scale events known as “Meetings with Champions”. The host, Łukasz Grass, a long-time journalist and a co-founder of the Triathlon Academy, invites special guests to talk to, such as Marek Rybiec – the first Pole to finish the 4 Deserts Ultramarathon Series (four 250-kilometre races across deserts) in one season, Andrzej Jankowski (Captain Andy) – a sailor, traveller and a writer, or Roman Paszke – a yacht racer, navigator, skipper and a yacht constructor.
The Sailing Poland Yacht Club also writes a blog where it shares with its members and other sailing enthusiasts the most important events in the club’s schedule or other valuable sailing texts. Recently, Milka Jung summarised the first of this year’s starts of Sailing Poland in the Caribbean regatta (link), and Captain Andy shared his experience on safe sailing and answered the questions we should ask ourselves before organising our own trip (link).
